A fascinating journey into the cultural and historical heart of Gia Lai Province, Vietnam.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. It is located on Hung Vuong Street, Pleiku. If you use public transportation, city bus lines 01 and 03 stop nearby. More info at: Gia Lai Tourism. Phone: +84 269 3824 167.
General admission is free for Vietnamese visitors. International visitors usually pay around 20,000 VND (about 0.85 USD). We recommend bringing cash in small denominations in case specific fees apply for temporary exhibitions.
We recommend setting aside between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. The museum is not very large, but it has excellent ethnographic displays on the Jrai and Bahnar minorities that deserve attention.
It is the main guardian of the heritage of Vietnam’s Central Highlands, with more than 15,000 pieces documenting the traditions of local Indigenous peoples. Its collections of gong instruments and traditional textiles are especially valuable.
The best time is during the dry season, from December to April. If you visit in summer, go early in the morning to avoid the intense heat of the Highlands.
The museum has main access ramps and an interior elevator. The restrooms are not fully adapted. Contact +84 269 3824 167 in advance to confirm specific accessibility details.
About 15 minutes away are Bien Ho Lake (volcanic scenery), Minh Thanh Pagoda, and Jrai villages such as Plei Ama Hring. You can book local tours at: Vietnam Tourism
Wear comfortable shoes for the stone floors, bring water, and dress lightly, as air conditioning is limited. Respect the rules: do not touch the objects, and take photos without flash. Try the local coffee at nearby stalls after your visit.
