A stunning stretch of coastline that blends natural beauty with stories of development and cultural adaptation in Vietnam.
Long Beach (Bãi Trường) is a public beach, so it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are no closing hours. To get there, you can take a taxi, motorbike taxi (xe ôm), or rent a motorbike from anywhere on Phu Quoc. The beach stretches for nearly 20 kilometers along the island’s west coast.
Good news! Access to Long Beach is completely free. It is a public beach, and there are no entrance fees. However, if you use sun loungers, umbrellas, or water sports services offered by resorts or local vendors, those will involve an additional cost.
To fully enjoy Long Beach, I would recommend setting aside at least half a day, around 3 to 4 hours. This will give you time to relax on the sand, take a swim, enjoy a peaceful walk, and perhaps have a meal or drink at one of the nearby places, especially at sunset.
Although Long Beach does not have an ancient history full of myths, its significance lies in being the heart of Phu Quoc’s tourism development. Its long shoreline has made it a key setting for new resorts and projects, transforming the island into a luxury destination. It is a symbol of Phu Quoc’s modernization.
The best time to visit Long Beach is during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is sunny and the sea is calm. As for the best time of day, sunset is absolutely spectacular. The colors of the sky over the Gulf of Thailand are unforgettable. I recommend arriving around 5:00 PM to secure a good spot.
Accessibility at Long Beach can be somewhat limited directly on the sand, as there are no specific walkways for wheelchairs leading all the way to the water. However, many of the resorts and restaurants along the beach have paved or wooden areas that are more accessible. Since the beach is very long, some sections may be easier to access than others.
Very close to Long Beach, you can explore the lively Phu Quoc Night Market, ideal for dinner and souvenir shopping. Also, Phu Quoc International Airport is conveniently nearby. If you are looking for something more cultural, Phu Quoc Prison, a historic site, is not far away to the south.
Absolutely! I suggest bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, as the sun can be intense. Although there are restaurants, bringing your own water is a good idea. For a top experience, plan your visit around sunset—it is wonderful! Also, keep in mind that prices at the beach bars may be a bit higher than in other parts of the island.
