Un pueblo artesanal vivo en Quang Nam, Vietnam, donde el arte de la alfarería se transmite de generación en generación con técnicas milenarias y barro del río Thu Bon.
Thanh Ha Pottery Village is open every day from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It is located about 3 km west of Hoi An Ancient Town, and you can easily get there by bicycle, taxi, or even on a relaxing boat ride along the Thu Bon River; you can see the exact location here: View on Google Maps.
Yes, there is a very affordable entrance fee of approximately 35,000 VND (around 1.50 USD). The ticket price not only supports the local community, but also usually includes a small ceramic gift and access to the impressive Terracotta Park.
We recommend allowing between 1 and 2 hours to enjoy the full experience without rushing. This will give you enough time to watch the master artisans, try making your own piece on the wheel, and explore the museum and gardens.
Founded in the 16th century, this village has more than 500 years of tradition and was crucial in supplying the bricks and tiles used to build the famous ancient town of Hoi An. It is a living testament to craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation and has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The best time is early in the morning (around 8:30 AM) or late in the afternoon to avoid the intense midday heat and the crowds from tour buses. In addition, the sunset light over the river and the terracotta sculptures creates a perfect setting for photographers.
The main Terracotta Park has paved paths and ramps that make access easier, although some areas of the traditional family workshops in the old village may have uneven ground. Overall, it is a manageable visit, and much of the site can be enjoyed without difficulty.
Since it is so close to Hoi An, you can combine your visit with a tour of Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also very nearby is Tra Que Vegetable Village, ideal if you want to complement the craft experience with agricultural tourism.
Do not just look around; get your hands dirty and take part in the workshops where you can shape your own clay with the guidance of an artisan. Wear comfortable clothes and make sure you have cash (VND) to buy unique pieces directly from the makers you will find along the lanes.
