The cave is open all day, but it is recommended to visit between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm for greater safety. From Dien Bien Phu, you can get there by motorbike or taxi in a 45-minute trip (17 km) to the southeast. For more transport details: Vietnam Tourism Official Site.

The full visit takes between 1 and 1.5 hours, including time to explore the main cave and take photos of the jungle surroundings.
It was a strategic refuge during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu (1954), used as a field hospital and resistance point. Its hidden location helped Vietnamese troops during the conflict.
The dry season (November to April) is ideal. Avoid July to September because of heavy rain. Early mornings (7:00-9:00 am) offer the best light and fewer visitors.
It is not wheelchair accessible because of the uneven terrain and natural steps. Non-slip shoes and good physical condition are required to climb to the entrance.

Bring mosquito repellent, water, a flashlight (there are dark sections), and hire a local guide at the entrance (between 100,000-150,000 VND) to better understand the history. Avoid touching fragile rock formations.
