The waterfall is open every day from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. From Buon Ma Thuot, take a taxi or rent a motorbike for a journey of about 25–30 km along Highway QL14, which takes approximately 45 minutes; signage is clear.
The entrance fee is around 50,000 VND (about 2 USD) per person, and it is free for children under 1 meter tall. It includes access to the main areas; pay at the ticket booth at the entrance.
Plan for about 1–2 hours to explore the main waterfall, the trails, and enjoy the scenery. If you want to swim or have a picnic, add another 30 minutes.
Dray Sap, which means 'elephant waterfall' in a local ethnic language, is part of the legendary Elo waterfalls and is sacred to the Ede and M'Nong communities, who see it as the dwelling place of spirits. It is an iconic site of biodiversity in Vietnam's Central Highlands.
The best time is from November to March during the dry season, with less rain and better visibility. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and intense heat.
The main access is via stairs and uneven rocky paths, which makes it challenging for wheelchairs. There is an accessible initial viewpoint, but reaching the base of the waterfall requires good mobility; check with local guides for options.
Nearby are Dray Nur Waterfall (5 km away), famous for its power, and Yok Don National Park (1 hour away). In Buon Ma Thuot, visit the elephant village or the Museum of Ethnology. More info at Vietnam Travel.
Wear comfortable clothes, non-slip shoes, mosquito repellent, and bring water; swim only in safe areas. Avoid the rainy season (May–October) and consider a local guide for authentic stories. Check updates at TripAdvisor.
