Donde el último emperador de Vietnam escondió sus fiestas bajo una bañera y sus secretos bajo alfombras persas
Bao Dai Summer Palace is usually open every day from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can easily get there by taxi from downtown Da Lat, or if you prefer a more local experience, by motorbike. It’s a very pleasant ride!
Adult admission usually costs around 30,000 VND (approximately 1.20 USD). For children, the price is generally 15,000 VND. There are usually no major discounts, but the price is quite affordable for most budgets.
To explore the palace at a relaxed pace and enjoy its gardens, I recommend setting aside 1 to 1.5 hours. If you like reading every sign and immersing yourself in the history, you could stay a bit longer.
This palace was the summer residence of Vietnam’s last emperor, Bao Dai, during the 1930s. Its importance lies in the fascinating window it offers into the life of Vietnamese royalty and the country’s history before the war. It is a tangible testament to a bygone era.
To avoid crowds and enjoy softer light for your photos, I suggest visiting early in the morning, right when it opens, or later in the afternoon. As for the best time of year, the dry season, from November to March, is ideal because of the pleasant weather and lower chance of rain.
Unfortunately, the Summer Palace is not fully adapted. There are stairs inside, and some paths may be uneven. If you have reduced mobility, we recommend contacting the staff for more detailed information: +84 263 3822 571.
Very close to the palace, you can visit Linh Son Pagoda or the famous Crazy House (Hang Nga Guesthouse), which is a completely unique architectural experience nearby. Get ready to be surprised!
I recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as there is plenty to explore. Consider hiring a local guide if you want to dive deeper into the history, or at least bring a travel guide so you don’t miss any details. And don’t forget your camera to capture its colonial beauty!
