Discover Ky Co Beach in Quy Nhon. A unique experience to explore its history and significance.
The beach is open every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. It is mainly accessed by boat from Bai Xep Beach (15 minutes) or by motorbike along coastal roads. We recommend booking local tours with authorized operators such as Vietnam Tourism for greater safety.
Since 2023, an access fee of 100,000 VND (approx. 4 USD) has been charged, which includes area maintenance. Children under 1.2 meters enter free of charge. Boat transport costs extra (150,000-200,000 VND round trip).
It is suggested to spend a full half day (4-5 hours) to relax, snorkel, and eat at local restaurants. If you only want to see the cliffs and take photos, 2 hours would be enough, but you would miss the essence of the place.
Local fishermen consider Ky Co a sacred place because of its crescent shape, a symbol of prosperity. Its name means "Flag Bay" due to its historical use as a lookout point during naval conflicts in the 18th century.
The ideal season is from March to September, with clearer waters for snorkeling and less rain. Avoid October to February because of the monsoons. The best time of day is to arrive at 8:00 am to avoid crowds and high tide.
Currently, access has limitations: there are uneven natural rock stairs (120 steps from the pier) and unpaved paths. Local tour operators offer special assistance upon request at Quy Nhon Tourism.
Amazing places can be found 30 minutes away by motorbike: the Banh It Cham Towers (12th-century architecture), Ky Co Canyon with suspension bridges, and the Thi Nai floating market. More info at Provincial Tourism Portal.
1) Wear non-slip footwear for walking on rocks 2) Sunscreen is essential (there is no natural shade) 3) Snorkel near the eastern reefs to see coral 4) Try banh canh cha ca (fish soup) at the local stalls 5) The last return boat leaves at 5:30 pm.
