An iconic symbol of Bac Lieu that captures centuries of history, architectural ingenuity, and a deep cultural connection to the Mekong Delta region.
The Wind Tower is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It is located in central Bac Lieu and can be reached by motorbike taxi (15,000-20,000 VND from downtown) or taxi. GPS coordinates: 9.2852° N, 105.7249° E.
Admission is completely free. No advance booking or ticket purchase is required. You only need to sign the visitor log available on site.
We recommend allowing 30-45 minutes: 15 minutes to explore the tower, including the viewpoint, plus extra time for photos in the historic gardens around it.
It is a symbol of the French colonial era, built in 1919, and linked to the legendary 'Playboy Prince of Bac Lieu' (Cong Tu Bac Lieu). Its architecture blends European styles with Vietnamese tropical adaptations.
The best time is during the dry season, from December to April. For spectacular photos with golden light, visit near sunrise (6:00-7:30 a.m.) or at sunset (5:30-6:30 p.m.).
The main access and gardens are accessible, but the tower has narrow stairs and no elevator. The upper viewpoint can only be reached by a 24-step staircase.
A 5-minute walk away you will find: the Bac Lieu Prince's House, Quan Am Temple (Buddhist), and the Bac Lieu Night Market, which opens from 5:00 p.m.
Wear comfortable shoes for the stairs, bring bottled water because of the 70-90% humidity, and use mosquito repellent. The night lighting is impressive, so consider visiting after 6:30 p.m. when the floodlights are switched on.
