The Capitol is open every day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Free guided tours are offered Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and on weekends from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We recommend checking the official website for updated schedules.
Admission is completely free! Both entry to the building and guided tours are free of charge. Some special exhibitions may have additional fees, but the basic experience is free.
A basic visit takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. If you join the guided tour (30–45 minutes) and explore the grounds and the Visitor Center, plan for about 3 hours to enjoy it fully.
Completed in 1888, it is a symbol of Texas pride: its dome (92 m) is taller than the United States Capitol. Designated a National Historic Landmark, it is where the state legislature meets, and it even preserves a rifle from the Alamo!
The spring months (March–May) and fall (September–November) offer pleasant temperatures. To avoid crowds, arrive before 10:00 AM or join the 4:30 PM tour. The grounds are spectacular in spring!
