Riverside Museum, home to Glasgow’s exceptional transport collection, tells the story of mobility and Scottish engineering.
Riverside Museum is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 (closed on 25 and 26 December). It is located at 100 Pointhouse Place, Glasgow, with easy access by tram (Riverside Museum stop) or bus (routes 100 and 90). More access details here.
Admission is completely free! However, voluntary donations from £5 are appreciated to support the museum. Some temporary exhibitions may require an additional fee. You can donate here.
Plan for 2 to 3 hours to fully explore the 3,000 transport items on display. If you also visit the Glenlee ship moored outside (included with admission), add an extra 45 minutes.
It is one of the largest transport museums in the world and an architectural icon designed by Zaha Hadid (2011). Its collection documents 150 years of Scottish industrial history. Learn about its history here.
Weekday mornings (Tuesday to Thursday) are quieter. July-August and weekends tend to be busier. The earliest time slots (10:00-11:30) are ideal for crowd-free photos.
Fully accessible: it has lifts, ramps, accessible toilets, and free wheelchairs available by reservation. There are disabled parking spaces at the entrance. See details here.
Just a 5-minute walk away is the historic Tall Ship Glenlee and beautiful Kelvingrove Park with its art gallery. Glasgow city centre is 15 minutes away by transport: Tall Ship | Kelvingrove.
