Audio Guide of the Urfa Archaeological Park

The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (extended hours in summer). It is located 15 minutes by car from the center of Sanliurfa. You can get there by taxi or local bus (line toward Orencik). To confirm exact hours: Official Turkish museums website.

General admission costs 380 Turkish lira (about €12) and includes access to Gobekli Tepe and the museum. Children under 8 enter free, and students with ID get a 50% discount. Buy tickets at the box office or online: muze.gov.tr.

We recommend at least 3 hours: 1 hour for Gobekli Tepe, 1 hour for the open-air museum, and 1 hour for the archaeological areas and walks. If you go with a guide or audio guide, allow 1 additional hour.

It is one of the oldest Neolithic sites in the world (12,000 years old), home to Gobekli Tepe, considered the first temple of humanity. It revolutionized our understanding of the origins of civilization.

Spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) for mild temperatures (20-25°C). Avoid July-August (up to 40°C). Best time of day: early morning (8:00-10:00 a.m.) to avoid crowds.

There are paved paths to the main viewpoints, but some areas with uneven stones are difficult. The Visitor Center is accessible, and they lend special all-terrain wheelchairs with prior reservation (+90 414 313 15 88).

Nearby, don't miss: Balikligol (15 min), Urfa Castle (10 min), and the Archaeological Museum (20 min) with finds from the park.

Wear comfortable trekking shoes, a hat, and bring water (there is no shade in the excavated areas). Rent an audio guide at the visitor center (iaudioguia.com offers tours in Spanish). It is best with an official guide to understand its importance.
