A natural paradise where the Mediterranean's turquoise blue blends with the vibrant lushness of the cliffs.
Kaputaş Beach is open 24 hours a day all year round, as it is a public natural beach. It is mainly reached by road from Kaş or Kalkan; there is parking at the top and then a steep staircase of about 200 steps down to the sand. If you are traveling by car, take the D400 road; for more details, see Turkey's official tourism website at Go Türkiye.
Entry to Kaputaş Beach is completely free, as it is a public beach. You will only pay for parking if you leave your car in the upper area, which costs around 5 to 10 Turkish lira per hour. No tickets or advance reservations are required.
It is recommended to spend between 1 and 2 hours enjoying the beach, swimming, and the views, depending on whether you plan to swim or simply relax. If you combine it with a nearby excursion, you could extend your visit to half a day. It is ideal for a short but striking visit because of its beauty.
Kaputaş Beach is a natural treasure on the Lycian coast of Turkey, famous for its golden sand and turquoise waters that create a spectacular contrast with the cliffs. Although it does not have a specific historical significance like ancient ruins, it represents the untouched beauty of the Turkish Mediterranean and is part of the natural heritage of the Antalya region. Its popularity grew in the 1990s thanks to its isolation and photogenic charm.
The best time is during the summer season, from June to September, when the weather is warm and the sea is at its best for swimming. During the day, arrive early in the morning, around 9 to 10 a.m., to avoid crowds and enjoy calmer waters; avoid the afternoons in July and August if you do not like busy conditions.
Unfortunately, the beach is not very accessible for people with reduced mobility because of the steep and slippery stairs leading down from the parking area to the sand, with no ramps or elevators. If you have mobility limitations, consider admiring the views from above or choosing more accessible nearby beaches such as those in Kaş. I recommend checking with local guides for adapted options.
Nearby you will find the coastal town of Kaş, about 20 km away, with Lycian ruins and a bohemian atmosphere; also Kalkan, 10 km away, known for its Ottoman houses and restaurants. Other gems include the ruins of Patara, with its beach and archaeological site, 40 km away. To plan your visit, see Turkey Tourism.
Bring sunscreen, water, and snacks, as there are not many facilities on the beach; wear comfortable shoes for the stairs and be prepared for a refreshing swim in cool waters. Avoid visiting on windy days because of possible currents, and if you rent a car, check road conditions. For updates, call the Kaş tourism center at +90 242 836 12 34.
