It is recommended to allow between 30 and 45 minutes to explore the main cave, including the walk through the galleries. If you go with a guide, it may extend to an hour. It is a compact visit, ideal for half a day.
Seben Cave is a natural karst formation millions of years old, famous for its impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and underground lakes, making it a unique example of Turkish geology. It has been a site of interest since ancient times, although it does not contain significant archaeological remains. It represents the natural richness of the Bolu region.
Spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) are ideal because of the mild weather and lower humidity inside the cave. Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy cool temperatures (around 12-15°C inside). Avoid rainy winters.
Access is partially accessible: there is a paved initial path, but the main interior requires descending stairs and uneven walkways, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs. Contact the Bolu tourism office at (+90 374 215 11 00) for adapted options. There are no elevators.
Nearby you will find Lake Abant (40 km away), ideal for nature, and Bolu Castle (15 km). Yedigöller National Park is also about an hour away by car. Combine your visit for a full day in Bolu; more info at Bolu tourism.
Wear comfortable, warm clothing (constant temperature of 12°C), non-slip shoes, and bring a flashlight to spot details. Go with a local guide for explanations about the formations; stay hydrated and do not touch the rocks to help preserve the site. Download an audio guide at IAudioguia to enrich your experience.
