El arco romano que llevaba siglos escondido a plena vista... y otras ironías históricas.
Hadrian's Gate is an open-air monument accessible 24 hours a day with no time restrictions. It is located in Antalya's historic center (Barbaros neighborhood), easily reachable on foot from Kaleiçi. There are no ticket booths or access controls. More info on Antalya's cultural website: Turkey Cultural Portal
No tickets or passes are required. This historic monument of ancient Attaleia is completely free, as it is integrated into the public street network of Antalya's old town.
About 15 to 30 minutes is enough to admire the architecture, read the information panels, and take photos. If you combine the visit with a walk along the Kaleiçi walls, allow an extra 1 to 2 hours.
Built in AD 130 to commemorate the visit of Emperor Hadrian, it is one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in Turkey. It marked the main entrance to the ancient city of Attaleia and features original reliefs.
The quietest times are early in the morning (8:00-10:00) or at sunset. As for seasons, visit in April-May or September-October to enjoy fewer tourists and mild temperatures.
Yes. Since it is located at street level (a cobbled but passable street), there are no steps or steep level changes. Access from Atatürk Avenue is completely flat.
Less than 5 minutes away on foot you will find: the historic Kaleiçi district (a UNESCO site), the Clock Tower (Saat Kulesi), Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque, and Antalya Museum (museum info).
Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestones, visit at dusk when it is illuminated, and complement your stop with a historical audio guide about Antalya. We recommend our self-guided tour: Audio Guides for Antalya
