Audio Guide of Huay Mae Khamin Waterfall

Khuean Srinagarindra National Park is open every day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Although it is sometimes confused with Ratchaburi, it is actually in Kanchanaburi; the best way to get there is by car or scooter via Route 3199, or by crossing the reservoir on the local ferry for a scenic experience.

It is not free; the entrance fee for foreigners is around 300 THB for adults and 200 THB for children, plus a small vehicle fee. Be sure to bring cash, as credit cards are usually not accepted at the park ticket office.

To enjoy the waterfall’s 7 levels at a relaxed pace and have time for a swim, I recommend setting aside 3 to 4 hours. If you plan to do the full route from Level 1 to Level 7, you will need extra time for the walk back.

Huay Mae Khamin is famous for being one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand, flowing over 7 distinct levels across limestone that filters the water and gives it a unique emerald color. Its name comes from the 'khamin' tree (turmeric), which has historically been abundant in this forest.

The best time is from October to January, just after the rainy season, when the flow is impressive and the weather is cooler. Avoid March and April if you want to see it with plenty of water, as that is the dry season and the flow drops considerably.

Level 4, which is the main area and where the campsite is located, is quite accessible with flat wooden walkways. However, reaching the upper levels or going down to Level 1 requires walking on dirt trails and natural steps, which is not suitable for wheelchairs.

You are right next to the huge Srinagarind Dam reservoir, which is ideal for panoramic sunset photos. You can also take the opportunity to visit the famous Erawan Waterfalls, which are about an hour away by car.

Take advantage of the fact that camping is allowed and rent a tent in the park to spend the night near Level 4; you will wake up to the sound of the water before the tourists arrive. Do not forget mosquito repellent and a towel, because you will definitely want to swim in its natural pools.
