Ferries depart from Rassada Pier in Phuket (2-hour journey) between 8:30 and 15:30. From Krabi, the trip takes 1.5 hours with departures between 9:00 and 15:00. Overnight stays are not allowed on the main islands - you must return the same day. More information at official schedules.
A round-trip ferry from Phuket costs about 600 THB (about €17). In addition, you will pay 400 THB (about €11) for entry to the Marine National Park. Many tours include both costs. Speedboat excursions start from 1,900 THB (about €50).
One day is enough to visit the main beaches such as Maya Bay and go snorkeling. If you want to explore viewpoints, Viking Cave, and several coves, consider 2-day tours with an overnight stay on Koh Phi Phi Leh.
They have been a Marine National Park since 1983, recognized for their biodiversity and limestone formations. They gained worldwide fame as the filming location for the movie "The Beach" (2000). After the 2004 tsunami, they were rebuilt while preserving their ecology.
From November to April (dry season), with crystal-clear waters. Avoid May to October because of the monsoons. To avoid crowds, arrive before 10:00. Maya Bay has restricted hours (10:00-16:00) to protect the ecosystem.
The main beaches (Ton Sai, Loh Dalum) have flat access, but trails and viewpoints require climbing uneven steps. Private boat tours allow you to enjoy the views without going ashore. Public restrooms are not adapted.
