Donde las rocas susurran historias de monzones, dioses enfadados y turistas en traje de Adán.
Kata Noi is a public beach and is open 24 hours a day, although for safety it is recommended to visit between sunrise and sunset. It is located just south of Kata Beach; to get there, follow the road that passes in front of the Katathani Resort until you reach the end of the dead-end road.
Access to the sand and the sea is completely free. You will only need cash if you decide to rent sun loungers and umbrellas, which usually cost around 200 THB, or if you want to buy drinks from the small local kiosks.
I recommend setting aside between 3 and 4 hours to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, swim, and sunbathe without rushing. It is the ideal place for a completely relaxing morning or to stay until late afternoon and watch one of the island's best sunsets.
Its appeal lies in being a haven of exclusivity and calm; unlike neighboring Patong, Kata Noi has preserved a relaxed and less commercial atmosphere. Historically, it is the smaller sister of Kata Beach, retaining natural charm and cleaner waters thanks to its location at the end of a dead-end road.
The best season is from November to April, when the sea is calm and the water is crystal clear; from May to October there are many waves and it becomes surfers' territory. Go early in the morning to secure a good spot or in the late afternoon to enjoy a spectacular sunset.
Access can be challenging, as the main northern entrance has steep stairs down to the sand. However, it can be reached more easily through the southern road access, although the sandy terrain makes wheelchair movement difficult without assistance.
You are very close to the famous Karon Viewpoint, where you can get the iconic photos of the three bays. You can also walk north to enjoy the wider dining and nightlife options of Kata Beach.
Bring your own snorkeling gear, as the rocky areas at both ends of the beach have excellent and very accessible marine life. And most importantly: always respect the red flags; if they are flying, do not go into the water, as the currents can be dangerous.
