Una de las playas más extensas y tranquilas de Phuket, con tres kilómetros de arena blanca fina, aguas cristalinas y un entorno natural preservado ideal para desconectar.
Karon Beach is open 24 hours a day, every day. It is easily reached by taxi or tuk-tuk from Patong (15 minutes) or Phuket Airport (45 minutes). Public transport is limited, so I recommend using local ride-hailing apps.
Entry is completely free, as it is a public beach. You will only pay for additional services: sun loungers (100-150 THB/day), umbrellas (100 THB), or water activities. Save your budget for the beachfront restaurants.
We recommend setting aside at least half a day. It is ideal to combine a morning at the beach (swimming or snorkeling) with an afternoon of Thai massages (from 300 THB/hour) and dinner at the local restaurants with sea views.
It is Phuket's second-longest beach (3 km) and a symbol of responsible tourism development. Its name comes from a local grass, and its fame grew in the 1990s while preserving a calmer atmosphere than Patong.
The dry season (November-April) offers crystal-clear waters. Avoid May-October because of the monsoons. The best times are 8-11 AM (fewer people) or 4-6 PM (best light for sunset photos).
It has paved access only in the central areas. The sand makes standard wheelchairs difficult to use, but some beach bars offer amphibious chairs with assistance. Check with your hotel for specialized services.
A 5-minute drive away: Wat Suwan Khiri Wong Buddhist Temple. In 10 minutes: Kata Beach and Karon Viewpoint. Do not miss the Big Buddha of Phuket (15 km away) with panoramic views.
Reef-friendly sunscreen (essential), water shoes because of coral in the northern area, cash for small businesses, and a waterproof pouch for documents. Rent paddleboards in the less crowded areas.
