Donde los fantasmas tailandeses juegan al escondite con los turistas descarriados.
Pai Canyon is open every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. It is located just 8 km from central Pai (about 15–20 minutes by motorbike or taxi). You can rent a motorbike in Pai, join an organized tour, or take a songthaew (shared taxi). More details at Tourism Thailand.
Admission costs 50 THB (approximately €1.30) per person. This price includes only access to the canyon. There are no official discounts for children or seniors, but I recommend bringing cash in Thai baht.
A full visit takes between 1.5 and 3 hours, depending on whether you hike the trail to the final viewpoint (1.5 km). If you plan to take photos on the bamboo bridges or have a picnic, set aside half a morning or a full afternoon.
Pai Canyon (Kong Lan in Thai) was formed by natural erosion over millennia. It does not have religious significance, but it is a unique geological symbol in northern Thailand. Locals consider it a protected natural treasure.
The best time is from November to February (cool and dry season), with temperatures of 20–25°C. Between March and May it gets intensely hot. Avoid July to September (monsoon rains). During the day, visit at sunrise for fewer tourists and perfect light for photos.
No. The terrain includes natural steps, narrow bamboo walkways, and steep rocky paths. There are no ramps or mechanical aids. It is only suitable for people with full physical mobility and non-slip sports shoes.
Less than 15 minutes away are: - Mo Paeng Waterfall (natural pools for swimming) - Wei Phra Sanctuary, which offers beautiful views - Pai Canyon Viewpoint (at sunset). All are included in the Pai circuit.
1) Wear closed shoes with good grip (the rocks are slippery) 2) Bring sunscreen and a hat (very little shade) 3) Bring water (there are no shops inside) 4) Avoid the canyon edges on rainy days 5) Arrive before 9:00 am to avoid large groups.
