Admission for foreign tourists is 100 baht (approximately 2.70 USD). Local and Thai visitors pay a reduced fee of 20 baht. It is advisable to bring cash, although cards are sometimes accepted at the ticket counter.

A typical visit lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours to explore all the exhibits at a relaxed pace. If you are a history enthusiast, you might stay up to 3 hours. The museum is not huge, but the exhibits are very detailed.

Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum houses an exceptional collection of artifacts from the ancient Srivijaya civilization and the Kingdom of Nakhon Si Thammarat, which was an important Buddhist center. The best time is between November and February, during Thailand’s cool and dry season. In terms of the day, visit between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM to avoid school group crowds. Wednesday mornings are usually especially quiet.

Within walking distance are Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, with its impressive main pagoda, and the New City Market. You can also visit Wat Phra Singh and the Old City Shrine. All of these sites are in the same historic area of the city.

Wear modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, as the museum is near active temples. Bring small cash for the entrance fee and buy an audio guide at the entrance (available in English for an additional cost). Non-flash photography is allowed, but not in all exhibits.
