A hidden natural paradise in the heart of Krabi, Thailand, famous for its crystal-clear emerald-colored waters.
The park usually opens every day from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. It is about 60 km from Krabi Town, in the Khlong Thom district, and the most convenient option is to rent a scooter or hire a private taxi; you can see the exact location here on Google Maps.
It is not free; a national park conservation fee is charged. The price for foreign adults is approximately 200 THB (about 5-6 euros), and 100 THB for children; remember to bring cash, as cards are rarely accepted.
I suggest allowing between 2 and 3 hours to enjoy the full experience. This gives you enough time to walk the nature trail (1.4 km), take photos without rushing, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters.
Its value is geological and ecological; it is a natural pool fed by freshwater springs rich in minerals such as calcium carbonate, which gives it that unique emerald color. It lies in the Khao Nor Chu Chi rainforest, one of Thailand’s last remaining pristine lowland forests.
Without a doubt, the best time is right at opening (8:30 AM) before organized tours arrive, or after 3:30 PM. The dry season, from November to April, is ideal for seeing the water at its most vivid and turquoise.
Access is difficult for wheelchairs or visitors with reduced mobility. Although there are wooden boardwalks, the terrain can be uneven and slippery, and a considerable walk is required from the entrance to the pools.
Take the opportunity to visit the incredible Blue Pool, located about 600 meters further up the trail (note that it closes from May to October), and the famous Nam Tok Ron Hot Springs, which are only a 15-minute drive away.
The floor of the pool is extremely slippery because of algae, so enter very carefully. Bring a towel, water, mosquito repellent, and keep in mind that using soaps or shampoos is prohibited to avoid contaminating the water.
