La Cascada Klong Plu es una espectacular caída de agua en la exuberante isla de Ko Chang, Tailandia, rodeada de selva tropical y piscinas naturales ideales para un chapuzón refrescante.
The park is open every day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with the last admission allowed a little before closing. It is located on the west side of the island, near Klong Prao; you can easily get there by motorbike or 'songthaew' (local taxi) to the parking area and then walk about 600 meters along the marked trail.
As it is part of Mu Ko Chang National Park, admission is not free. The standard price for foreigners is 200 THB for adults and 100 THB for children, although we recommend bringing extra cash for the small parking fee if you come in your own vehicle.
We recommend setting aside between 1.5 and 2 hours for the full experience. The walk takes about 20 minutes each way, but you will want enough time to take a refreshing swim and learn about your surroundings with an immersive audio guide.
Yes, it is a place with very significant real history. King Rama V, revered in Thailand, visited this waterfall twice in the 19th century, and even left his initials carved into a stone that can still be seen near the falls.
To see the waterfall with a good flow and clear water, the ideal months are from October to January (right after the rainy season). We advise going first thing in the morning (8:00 - 9:00 AM) to avoid the crowds and enjoy nature on your own.
Unfortunately, access is not suitable for wheelchairs or people with severe mobility limitations. The path is a jungle trail that, although well maintained, includes uneven terrain, rocks, and some slopes that require a certain amount of physical effort.
You are very close to Klong Prao Beach, which is excellent for eating fresh seafood after the walk. You can also head a little south to visit the famous Kai Bae viewpoint, which offers one of the best sunset views on the entire island.
It is essential to bring mosquito repellent and non-slip footwear, since the wet rocks are dangerous. Do not forget your swimsuit to swim in the natural pool, and bring drinking water, as there are no vendors inside the waterfall trail.
