La isla que desafió el turismo masivo con silencio y pinos bailarines
Ko Kham is accessible exclusively by boat from Ko Mak during the day (generally between 8:00 and 17:00). Local boats can be arranged from Ko Mak’s main beach (Ao Suan Yai). There is no official closing time, as it is a natural island. Updated information: Tourism Thailand - Ko Mak.
Entry to Ko Kham is free, but you will need to pay for boat transport from Ko Mak (around 300-500 THB round trip per person, approximately €8-14). Some tours include this cost.
Most visitors spend 2 to 4 hours: enough to enjoy its unspoiled beaches, snorkel around the nearby reefs, and walk around the entire island, which is only 500 meters long.
It has no major historical relevance, but it stands out for its natural beauty. Its name means "Golden Island" because of the golden tone of its sand at sunset. It is part of Mu Ko Rang National Park, known for its biodiversity.
The dry season (November to April), when the sea is calm and snorkeling visibility is at its best. Avoid the monsoon season (May to October). The best time of day is in the morning (8:00-11:00) to avoid crowds.
It is not adapted. Access involves transferring from boats to smaller vessels and walking on sand without boardwalks. There are no facilities or medical services on the island.
1) Bring water and food (there are no services), 2) Wear water shoes because of coral, 3) Bring cash to pay for boats, 4) Use biodegradable sunscreen, 5) Bring your own snorkeling gear (or rent it on Ko Mak). Check weather conditions before going.
