Donde los dragones cuentos se mezclan con monjes que desafían el tiempo
Wat Chong Lom is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is located in Mueang Samut Sakhon District and can be reached by car or taxi from Bangkok (about 1 hour); use Google Maps for precise directions.
Admission is free for all visitors. You may simply consider making a voluntary donation for the upkeep of the site.
A typical visit lasts 1 to 2 hours, enough time to explore the ruins and the main chedi. If you are interested in photography, allow a little extra time.
It is an 11th-century archaeological site with Khmer influences, notable for the ruins of an ancient monastery and a well-preserved chedi. It represents the cultural fusion between the Khmer Empire and the ancient Thai kingdom of Dvaravati.
Visit early in the morning (8–10 AM) to avoid the heat, ideally during the dry season from November to February. Avoid rainy afternoons during the monsoon season.
The ground is uneven, with stairs and dirt paths, so it is not ideal for wheelchairs. Contact the local site or consider assistance; there are limited flat areas near the entrance.
Nearby you will find Wat Pathum Khongkha and the Samut Sakhon Museum. Do not miss the fresh seafood markets in the provincial center, about 10–15 minutes away by car. More info at Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Bring water, mosquito repellent, and modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Wear comfortable shoes for walking around the ruins, and download an audio guide at IAudioguia to enrich the historical experience.
