Imagina a un rey tailandés dejando su trono por un baño en cascada: aquí pasó nueve veces, y te cuento por qué.
The park is open 24 hours a day, but it is recommended to visit between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM for greater safety. You can get there by scooter or taxi from Thong Sala (about 30–45 minutes), then walk along a 15–20 minute trail from Than Sadet Beach. Check the official map at the Thailand Department of National Parks.
Admission is 300 THB for foreign adults and 100 THB for Thai/foreign children; it is free for Thai children under 14 years old. Bring cash, as cards are not always accepted at the entrance.
It is recommended to allow 1–2 hours to climb to the main waterfall, enjoy the swimming area, and come back down. If you want to explore side trails, plan for about 3 hours in total.
Than Sadet is famous because the Thai kings Rama IV and Rama V visited its waterfalls in the 19th century, leaving inscriptions that make it a historic and spiritual site. It is a symbol of Thai royalty and a popular place for natural swimming.
The best time is the dry season from December to March, when there is less rain and more water in the waterfall. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and intense heat.
It is not very accessible; the main access involves a steep, slippery trail with natural steps and rocks. There are no ramps or paved paths, so it is recommended only for those who can walk easily.
Nearby is Than Sadet Beach, ideal for relaxing; you can also visit Phaeng Waterfall (the highest on the island) or Bottle Beach. In 10–15 minutes by scooter, you can reach Haad Rin for the Full Moon Party if your visit matches the dates.
Bring non-slip shoes, insect repellent, water, and sunscreen; swim in the natural pools, but be careful because of currents. Go in a group if possible and check the weather to avoid heavy rain; call +66 77 377 035 for updated park information.
