Heidi Adventure Village generally opens from mid-March to November, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To get there from Chur, take the train to Maienfeld station and follow the signs for the 'Heidi Trail' on foot, or take the 'Heidi Bus' available on weekends and public holidays.

Access to the trails is free, but entry to the museum houses has a fee: approximately CHF 13.90 for adults and CHF 5.90 for children. I recommend checking the latest prices and family passes directly on the official website before your visit.

For a full experience that includes the museum, the original house, and feeding the goats, allow between 2 and 3 hours. If you want to take the longer walks along the trails toward the hotel or the alpine pastures, consider spending half a day.

It is not an artificial theme park, but the real setting that inspired Johanna Spyri to write her novels in 1880. You will be able to enter the authentic original house and experience what rural Swiss life was like in the 19th century.

Spring and early autumn offer the most pleasant weather and vibrant green landscapes. To avoid large tour groups arriving by bus, it is best to visit the village right at opening time (10:00 AM) or after 3:00 PM.

Accessibility is limited because it is a historic village with gravel paths and old houses with narrow stairs. Although it is possible to get around outside with a sturdy wheelchair, access inside the historic buildings is difficult.

Take the opportunity to explore the beautiful vineyards of the Bündner Herrschaft region surrounding Maienfeld. In addition, Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland, is only 15 minutes away by train and is ideal for strolling through its historic center.

Wear very comfortable shoes, as there are dirt paths, and do not forget to buy your postcards at the village shop. You can mail them right there so they carry the exclusive Heididorf postmark, a unique souvenir for collectors.
