The lake is accessible 24 hours a day all year round, as it is a natural outdoor site. You can easily get there by train from Interlaken Ost to Brienz (about 15 minutes) or by bus; for boat trips, check the timetables at BLS Navigation, which operates roughly from April to October.

It is recommended to set aside half a day (3–4 hours) for a boat trip and exploring the shores. If you combine it with light hiking, you can extend it to a full day to fully enjoy its turquoise waters.

Formed thousands of years ago by glaciers in the Bernese Alps, the lake is famous for its unique turquoise color caused by fine rock particles carried by the Aare River. Brienz, on its shore, is a traditional village known for its woodcarving art, recognized as part of Swiss cultural heritage.

Summer (June to September) is ideal for swimming and boat trips, with pleasant temperatures. Visit at sunrise or sunset for spectacular photos and fewer crowds; in autumn, the tree colors are stunning.

Bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes for walking along the shores; rent a bike in Brienz to explore more easily. Buy boat tickets in advance at BLS during high season, and try local fondue at the lakeside restaurants.
