El Valle de Lauterbrunnen, en el corazón de los Alpes suizos, es un valle glaciair de belleza sobrecogedora con 72 cascadas, paredes rocosas verticales y un paisaje que parece sacado de un cuento.
The valley is a natural area open 24 hours a day. The most convenient way to get there is by train from Interlaken Ost (20 minutes), although if you are driving, you should leave your car in the station parking lot since villages such as Wengen are car-free. To plan your route, check the schedules at SBB Swiss Railways.
Walking along the valley floor and seeing the iconic Staubbach Falls from below is completely free. However, specific attractions such as Trümmelbach Falls or the trains to Wengen and Jungfraujoch do require a ticket; you can view options and passes on the Jungfrau Region website.
For a relaxed walk through the valley and time to take photos, allow between 2 and 3 hours. If you plan to go up to Wengen, visit the interior waterfalls, or go hiking, we recommend setting aside a full day so you can enjoy it without rushing.
Known as the 'Valley of 72 Waterfalls,' this place is famous for inspiring J.R.R. Tolkien in the creation of Rivendell in 'The Lord of the Rings.' In addition, Goethe wrote his famous poem 'Song of the Spirits over the Waters,' inspired by the majesty of Staubbach Falls.
Late spring and early summer (May to June) are ideal because the snowmelt brings the waterfalls to their maximum flow. To avoid crowds and get the best light for your photographs, we suggest arriving early in the morning, before 9:00 AM.
Yes, the main path along the valley floor between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg is paved and quite flat, making it ideal for wheelchairs. In addition, the village of Wengen can be reached by cogwheel train, which is adapted for accessibility.
Do not miss the Trümmelbach Falls, ten glacial waterfalls inside the mountain. It is also highly recommended to go up to the village of Wengen for panoramic views of the valley from above.
Bring a light rain jacket, as the spray from the waterfalls can get you wet when you get close. An excellent strategy is to walk from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg (about 5 km of flat terrain) and return comfortably by post bus to save energy.
