Escultura conmovedora dedicada a Karin Larsson, esposa y musa del pintor Carl Larsson, que captura su espíritu creativo en el corazón de Sundborn. Un símbolo de la vida artística y familiar en la Suecia de finales del siglo XIX.
The home of Karin and Carl Larsson, which serves as her main memorial site, is usually open daily from May to September, but access to the interior is only by guided tour. As places are limited, I strongly recommend checking the exact times and booking on the official Carl Larsson-gården website.
The interior visit costs approximately SEK 260 (about €23) for adults, which includes the expert guide required to tour the house. Children and young people under 16 usually enter free, but advance booking is still required.
The guided tour lasts დაახლოებით 45–50 minutes, but I suggest allowing at least 2 hours in total. That way, you can enjoy the gardens designed by Karin at a relaxed pace and visit the gift shop without rushing.
This place is not just a house; it is a living work of art where Karin transformed interior and textile design in Sweden, helping define the modern Scandinavian style. Visiting it means understanding how her creativity formed the backbone of the art of her famous husband, Carl Larsson.
Summer, from June to August, is ideal for seeing the garden in full bloom, just as it appears in the famous watercolors. However, visiting in December offers a magical experience with the traditional Swedish Christmas market and the snowy landscape of Dalarna.
Because it is a historic house preserved with its original architecture, the interior has stairs and high thresholds that make wheelchair access difficult. However, the gardens and outdoor areas are accessible and offer wonderful views of the property.
Right next door, you will find Sundborn Church, where you can visit the graves of Karin and Carl Larsson in the cemetery. I also recommend a relaxing walk along the Sundborn River, which offers postcard-like landscapes that are typically Swedish.
Large backpacks and photography are usually prohibited inside the house to protect Karin’s original textiles. Wear comfortable shoes for the garden and, above all, secure your ticket online in advance if you are traveling in high season.
