Donde los saltos de esquí esconden dramas de última hora y una historia de amor con ovejas
Lugnet is a year-round recreational area with free access 24 hours a day. For specific facilities (such as pools or ski trails), check the opening hours on the official website. It is a 10-minute walk from central Falun or reachable by local bus (routes 701 and 704).
Access to the park is completely free. Some activities such as the cable car, the ski museum, or the swimming pool have separate fees. Check updated prices at lugnet.se.
It depends on your interests: for a walk around the park and panoramic views, allow 1–2 hours. If you include museums or sports activities, plan for half a day. The complex is extensive (more than 100 hectares).
It is a national sports icon: host of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1954, 1974, and 1993. It is also home to the Swedish Ski Museum, key to understanding the country's winter tradition. Its ski jump tower is an architectural landmark.
Winter (December–March) for snow sports and an alpine atmosphere. Summer (June–August) for hiking and cultural events. Avoid November and April, which are transition seasons with fewer activities available.
The main areas of the park have accessible paved paths. The museum, swimming pool, and restaurants comply with accessibility standards. Some mountain routes are not adapted. More details at the accessibility guide.
Within 3 km you have: the Falun Mine (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) falugruva.se, the Dalarna Museum dalarnasmuseum.se, and Falun's historic center with its typical red houses.
1) Wear comfortable shoes (uneven terrain). 2) Go up to the Kristineberg viewpoint for spectacular views. 3) Check the event calendar for festivals or sports competitions during your visit.
