Sendero histórico en Miajadas que recorre antiguos molinos hidráulicos junto al río Tamuja, testimonio de la ingeniería tradicional extremeña y su legado molinero.
As this is an outdoor hiking route that runs along the Búrdalo River, access is completely free and available 24 hours a day. You can start the walk at any time, although we always recommend doing it in daylight to enjoy the scenery.
No, the visit is 100% free. It is a public trail designed for enjoying nature and local history, so you do not need to book or buy tickets to access it.
The full route, depending on your pace and the stops you make to look at the mill ruins, usually takes between 2 and 3 hours. It is an easy to moderate walk, perfect for spending an active morning or afternoon.
These mills represent the industrial heart of Miajadas’s past; for centuries they harnessed the power of water to grind grain and supply flour to the region. They are a vital testimony to vernacular architecture and the traditional hydraulic engineering of Extremadura.
Without a doubt, spring or autumn are the ideal times, as the weather is milder and the river landscape looks spectacular. In summer, we recommend avoiding the middle of the day because of the high temperatures typical of the area.
As it is a rural path with dirt sections and natural vegetation, access can be difficult for wheelchairs. If you are bringing a baby stroller, be prepared for some uneven stretches; ideally, wear comfortable hiking footwear.
While you are there, do not miss the center of Miajadas to see the Church of Santiago the Apostle and the Bishop Solís Palace. You can find more information on what to see on the Miajadas Tourism website.
Bring plenty of water and sun protection, as there are stretches with little shade. We recommend checking the location on the map before you leave and keeping your phone charged in case you want to take photos of the riverside scenery.
