Audio Guide of the Alcántara Dam Viewpoint

The Alcántara Dam Viewpoint is an open public space with no restricted visiting hours. You can visit freely any day of the year by taking the EX-117 road. For updated information about special events, check the website of the Alcántara Town Hall.

Access to the viewpoint is completely free. If you would like to visit the Alcántara Dam itself, there are companies that offer guided tours for a fee. More information is available on the National Heritage website.

We recommend allowing between 30 and 45 minutes to fully enjoy the viewpoint, take panoramic photographs, and appreciate the views of the natural surroundings. You can extend your visit if you include a picnic or hiking in the area.

The most recommended times are at sunrise or sunset, when the light enhances the landscape. Avoid the central hours in summer because of the extreme heat, which can reach 40°C. Spring and autumn offer ideal temperatures and scenery with blooms or reddish tones.
