Donde las rocas susurran secretos benditos y herejes desde hace siete siglos.
The hermitage is open Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No advance booking is required. It is accessed through the Sacred Rock park, a 15-minute walk from the center of Manzanares el Real. More information is available on the official tourism portal.
Admission to the hermitage is free. If you arrive by car, the nearby parking lot charges a fee (€2/hour). We recommend arriving early to find a space or using public transport. Check the parking location on this website.
A full visit takes about 45 to 60 minutes: 15 minutes to see the inside of the chapel and another 30 minutes to enjoy the viewpoint and the surrounding path. If you go hiking in the area, allow 2 to 3 hours.
This 13th-century hermitage is linked to pagan rituals and fertility celebrations. Its location on Sacred Rock was considered sacred since pre-Roman times. Discover more about its legend on the local mythology portal.
Spring and autumn are ideal thanks to the mild weather and the colors of the landscape. In summer, come early to avoid the heat. The 'golden hour' is at sunset, when warm light illuminates the granite stone of the surroundings.
Access is difficult because of the uneven terrain and natural steps. The final stretch is cobbled and steep. The tourist office offers virtual visits as an accessible alternative.
Do not miss: 1) the imposing Mendoza Castle (5 minutes by car), 2) the Santillana Reservoir for spectacular views, and 3) the La Pedriza area, a paradise for climbers (20 minutes by car).
Wear sports shoes because of the uneven terrain, and bring water and sun protection. Respect the natural surroundings and do not leave any waste behind. For the best photos, use a wide-angle lens, and do not forget to charge your phone battery!
