The mNACTEC generally opens from Tuesday to Sunday. To fully enjoy the permanent exhibition and some of the temporary ones, I would recommend setting aside at least 2 to 3 hours. If you stop to look at every detail or take part in one of the interactive activities, you could easily extend your visit to 4 hours. It is a large museum with a great deal to explore.
mNACTEC is Catalonia’s national museum of science and technology and is housed in a former textile steam factory, Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, a jewel of industrial modernism. It is a living testimony to the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia, showing how innovation and manufacturing transformed the region, and it tells an essential part of its economic and social history.
For a quieter visit, I suggest avoiding weekends and free-admission days (the first Sunday of the month and Tuesday afternoons). Ideally, visit on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday morning between opening time and 12:00 p.m. Outside peak holiday periods, such as summer or Holy Week, you will also find fewer people.
Yes, the museum is designed to be accessible. It has elevators to reach all floors, and the exhibitions are well laid out to make moving around easier. If you have any specific needs, I recommend contacting them directly so they can provide the best assistance. You can call +34 93 789 22 44 or write to [email protected].
Absolutely! Terrassa has much more to offer. Do not miss the spectacular See of Egara (the Churches of Saint Peter), an impressive Visigothic-Romanesque monumental complex. You can also take a walk through the historic center and admire the city’s modernist architecture.
I recommend downloading the museum’s app or checking the map on its website before your visit to plan which exhibitions you want to see and make sure you do not miss anything. Take part in the interactive demonstrations; they are very educational. Do not forget your headphones if you want to use the audio guide, or consider renting a guide with iAudioguia for a truly immersive experience! And of course, wear comfortable shoes—you will be doing quite a lot of walking.
