The necropolis is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; it is closed on Mondays. Admission is free, and access is via Jorge Bonner Avenue or from the Archaeological Complex of the Seville Gate. For more details, visit the official Carmona Tourism website or call +34 954 190 995.
Admission is free, as it is a site managed by Carmona City Council as public heritage. No advance tickets are required, but it is advisable to check during peak season in case of capacity limits.
It is recommended to allow between 1 and 2 hours to explore the tombs, mausoleums, and the adjoining museum without rushing. If you are a history enthusiast, you might extend it to 2.5 hours, including optional guided explanations.
This necropolis dates from the 1st century BC to the 4th century AD and is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in Hispania, with more than 900 tombs showing Roman funerary customs and early Christian elements. It represents the cultural evolution from imperial Rome to early Christianity in Baetica.
Spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) are ideal because of Andalusia's mild climate, avoiding the summer heat. Choose early morning (around 10:00 AM) to enjoy fewer crowds and better light for photos.
Access is partially accessible: there are ramps at the main entrance and the museum can be adapted, but parts of the site have uneven ground and stairs due to its archaeological nature. It is recommended to contact +34 954 190 995 for assistance or adapted guided visits; more information is available on the Carmona Tourism website.
Just 500 meters away is the Archaeological Complex of the Seville Gate, with impressive Roman remains. You can also visit the Alcázar of King Pedro and the Priory Church of Saint Mary Major in Carmona's historic center, all within less than a 15-minute walk.
