Discover Cala Sant Francesc in Blanes. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
The cove is open year-round with no time restrictions, although daytime visits are recommended. You can easily get there on foot from the center of Blanes (10–15 minutes) or by car, with limited parking nearby. More details on the municipal website.
Access is completely free, as it is a natural public cove. No tickets or advance reservations are required.
It is recommended to spend between 2 and 3 hours to fully enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the rocky surroundings. If you plan to combine it with a picnic, allow half a day.
It is famous for its 15th-century chapel dedicated to Saint Francis, which gives the cove its name. In addition, since 1918 it has hosted the International Fireworks Competition every July, a tradition declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
In summer you will enjoy swimming the most, but there are more people. For a quieter visit, choose June or September, preferably on weekdays and before 11:00 a.m. Sunsets are spectacular, but with fewer services available.
Accessibility is limited due to its natural layout: the main access is via an uneven path, and the pebbly beach makes wheelchair use difficult. There is an adapted restroom at the seasonal beach bar.
A 5-minute walk away you have the Blanes seafront promenade with restaurants and S'Abanell Beach. About 15 minutes away is the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, and to the north the Coastal Path route connects with other picturesque coves.
1) Wear non-slip footwear for the rocks. 2) Look for natural shade beneath the cliffs. 3) Use services (restrooms, beach bars) mainly during high season. 4) Cross the railway line carefully using the marked crossings.
