Un espectacular paraje natural en Banyoles con cañones rocosos estrechos, cuevas kársticas y un río subterráneo esculpidos por la erosión durante milenios. Un rincón de belleza salvaje y misterio geológico.
Les Estunes is a natural area with free public access, so it does not have fixed opening or closing hours. You can visit from sunrise to sunset. It is located a short distance from the center of Banyoles and is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle via the marked trails around the lake. We recommend checking a local map or Google Maps for the most convenient route.
Good news! Access to Les Estunes is completely free. It is a natural area open to the public for everyone to enjoy, with no tickets or fees required.
To fully enjoy Les Estunes, including a relaxed walk along its trails and time to admire its unique formations, we recommend setting aside between 1 and 2 hours. If you enjoy photography or simply want to sit and soak up the atmosphere, you may want to stay a little longer.
Les Estunes is special for its fascinating geological formations, known as travertine formations, which have created natural bridges and caves. In addition, the local legend of the Estunes, or water women, gives it a unique sense of mystery. It is a place where geology and folklore intertwine in a magical way, turning it into a forest of living legends.
Although Les Estunes is beautiful all year round, spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November) offer the most pleasant temperatures and an explosion of color in the vegetation, making them ideal for photography. Visiting early in the morning or at sunset will also let you enjoy softer light and fewer people.
Although the main trails are relatively flat and suitable for walking, some of the more hidden areas or the entrances to the natural caves may have uneven surfaces or steps, which could make access difficult for wheelchairs or baby strollers. We recommend exploring the wider, flatter areas near the lake, which are more accessible. Unfortunately, we do not have specific accessibility information on its official website.
There is plenty to see in Banyoles! You definitely should not miss Lake Banyoles, perfect for a walk, water sports, or simply relaxing on its shores. I also recommend visiting the Banyoles Archaeological Museum to learn about the history of the region, or taking a stroll through the city’s charming old town.
Of course—here are a few tips: wear comfortable shoes, as you will be walking; bring a bottle of water, especially on hot days; and if you are a photographer, get ready for the magic of light filtering through the trees. Also, please respect the natural environment, do not leave litter, and stay on the marked trails to help protect this incredible place.
