A botanical paradise with spectacular Mediterranean views, home to thousands of plant species and a legacy of passion for science and nature.
Marimurtra Botanical Garden usually opens from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m., depending on the season. You can check the exact opening hours on its official website. It is located in Blanes, and you can get there by car (parking is available) or by tourist bus from central Blanes during the high season.
General admission for adults is €8. Discounts are available for children, students, retirees, and groups. I recommend checking the latest prices and any special offers directly in its opening hours and prices section.
To fully enjoy Marimurtra Botanical Garden and explore its different sections without rushing, we recommend setting aside between 2 and 3 hours. That way, you can admire its views, species, and hidden corners at a relaxed pace.
Marimurtra was founded in 1920 by the German businessman and naturalist Carl Faust. His vision was to create an international center for biology, and today it is one of the most important botanical gardens in Europe, notable for its biodiversity and its privileged location overlooking the Mediterranean.
Spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) are ideal for visiting because of the mild weather and blooming plants. Early in the morning, right when it opens, or late in the afternoon, you will avoid the crowds and enjoy beautiful light and more pleasant temperatures.
Part of the garden is adapted and accessible for wheelchairs, although because of its terrain, some sloped areas may be more difficult. There is also a small adapted electric train that travels through the main areas to make the visit easier. More details about accessibility can be found on its official website.
Of course! Blanes is known for other attractions such as Cala Sant Francesc (Cala Bona) right next door, the Castle of Saint John with panoramic views, or a walk along the seafront promenade and the port of Blanes. The Pinya de Rosa Botanical Garden is also nearby.
I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, and bringing water, sun protection, and a hat, especially in summer. Don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning views and plant diversity. You may also want to bring a picnic to enjoy in the designated areas with spectacular views.
