Saint Mary is the oldest Gothic building in Blanes, built in 1350. It played a key role as a defensive point against pirate attacks, and its tower served as a watchtower to monitor the coast. Its Baroque altarpiece is officially listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest.

Weekday mornings, especially from Tuesday to Thursday, are the least crowded. In summer, visit before 11:00 AM to avoid the heat, as the interior stays cool thanks to its thick stone walls.

Within a short distance you will find: the Marimurtra Botanical Garden (15 minutes on foot), the ruins of Saint John Castle with panoramic views, and the marina with excellent seafood restaurants.

Wear comfortable shoes for the climb to the viewpoint next to the church, which offers spectacular views, respect the silence during Mass, and visit at sunset to see the façade illuminated. You can also combine your visit with the Modernist Route of Blanes.
