Discover New Square in Mojácar. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
New Square, as a public square, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and access is free. You can easily reach it on foot from anywhere in the old quarter of Mojácar Pueblo, as it is one of its central hubs.
No need to worry about your wallet! Visiting New Square of Mojácar is completely free, as it is a public space. You can enjoy its views and atmosphere without paying any entrance fee.
Even though it is a square, I recommend setting aside at least 30 to 45 minutes. This will allow you to enjoy the stunning panoramic views, take photos, and simply soak up the atmosphere. If you feel like sitting on a bench and relaxing, you can stay even longer.
New Square is Mojácar’s quintessential viewpoint. Although it does not itself have an ancient history of specific historic buildings, its importance lies in being a social meeting point and offering a spectacular panorama of the Aguas River valley, the Sierra Cabrera, and, on clear days, even Cape Gata. It is the social and visual heart of the town.
The best time is at sunset, when the golden light bathes the landscape and the view is simply magical, ideal for photos! As for the time of year, spring and autumn offer more pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds than summer, although the views are spectacular at any time.
Access to the square itself is flat and relatively easy once you arrive. However, keep in mind that the old quarter of Mojácar Pueblo has steep cobbled streets, which may make general access to the square difficult for people with reduced mobility. Once there, the space is easy to move around.
Plenty! Right next to it you have the Bell Tower of the Church of Saint Mary and the church itself. Just a short walk away you will find the Mora Fountain and the Castle Viewpoint. In addition, the whole old quarter of Mojácar is delightful for strolling through its white lanes and visiting the craft shops.
Bring your camera or a fully charged phone, because the views are stunning. If you go in summer, do not forget a hat and sunscreen, as there is not much direct shade. If possible, stay until sunset to see how the colors of the landscape change. And relax, enjoy the views and the atmosphere!
