Doñana National Park has different areas and access hours. To visit, it is recommended to do so through organized guided tours, as independent access is very restricted in order to preserve its ecosystem. Admission to Doñana National Park itself is usually free, but guided tours and organized excursions run by partner companies do have a cost. Prices vary depending on the length and type of activity. We recommend checking directly with the authorized active tourism companies operating at the visitor centers for current rates, such as those available at El Acebuche Visitor Center or La Rocina.

A full guided visit, if you want to see different ecosystems and spot wildlife, can last between 3 and 4 hours. If you only want to visit a visitor center and take a short route, one or two hours may be enough. For a deeper experience, many visitors choose half-day excursions that combine several points of interest.

Doñana is one of the most important protected natural areas in Europe and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its significance lies in being a mosaic of ecosystems—marshes, dunes, scrubland, and beaches—that host unique biodiversity, serving as a crucial stopover and nesting area for thousands of migratory birds and as a home for endangered species such as the Iberian lynx.

The best times for watching migratory birds are usually autumn (September-October) and spring (March-May), when the marshes are at their best and bird movement is at its peak. To try to see the Iberian lynx, winter and early spring are good times, as they tend to be more active then.

Some visitor centers, such as El Acebuche Visitor Center and La Rocina, along with their wooden walkways, are adapted with ramps and wheelchair-accessible paths. However, access to certain areas of the park or to routes included in guided visits may be limited. It is advisable to contact the visitor centers or tour companies in advance to confirm accessibility for the specific visit you want to take.

Very close to Doñana, you can visit the Hermitage of El Rocío, famous for its pilgrimage, and the village of El Rocío with its distinctive charm. I also recommend exploring Matalascañas Beach, ideal for a walk, and the lovely town of Almonte. For a more cultural experience, the city of Huelva offers historic heritage and excellent local cuisine.
