Audio Guide of the Serbian National Theatre

The theatre is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for individual visits, but hours may vary depending on performances. We recommend checking the official schedule or calling +381 21 527 511 to confirm. Guided tours must be booked in advance.

Tickets for performances range from 800 to 3000 RSD (approximately €7–25). Some cultural events are free. You can buy tickets on their website or at the box office. There is no separate fee just to visit the building without attending a performance.

We recommend allowing 1 hour to admire its Neo-Renaissance architecture. If you include a performance or guided tour (available in Serbian/English), plan for 2–3 hours. Don’t miss the stunning ceiling fresco in the foyer!

Founded in 1861, it is the oldest professional theatre in Serbia. Its current building (constructed in 1881) witnessed the flourishing of Serbian culture and survived two world wars. Today it is a Cultural Monument of Exceptional Importance.

Visit in autumn/winter to enjoy its peak theatre season. Clear days are ideal for photographing its iconic yellow façade. Avoid the EXIT Festival (July), when there are more tourists in Novi Sad.

It has access ramps and an elevator to all floors. Reserved seats are available in the stalls for wheelchair users. We recommend confirming accessibility for specific events by calling +381 21 527 511.

Within 800 meters you will find: Petrovaradin Fortress (official website), the Museum of Vojvodina, and Zmaj Jovina pedestrian street with its historic cafés. Liberty Bridge over the Danube is a 10-minute walk away.
