Centro cultural emblemático en Kikinda que guarda miles de volúmenes y rinde homenaje al escritor serbio Jovan Popović, fusionando historia literaria y arquitectura regional.
The Jovan Popović Municipal Library is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (October to May only). To confirm updated hours, visit its official website or call +381 230 422 615.
General access to the library is free. Only certain temporary exhibitions or cultural events may require payment. We recommend checking its current program before your visit.
You can explore the main architecture and permanent exhibitions in 1 hour. If you plan to enjoy special activities such as readings or talks, or spend time in the reading garden, allow up to 2 hours.
The library occupies the former Dabački House (1885), an outstanding example of brick architecture in Banat. It is named after Jovan Popović, an important Serbian writer born in Kikinda who promoted regional education.
Spring and autumn are ideal because of the mild weather. During the day, weekday mornings are less crowded. In January, do not miss its participation in Kikinda’s famous Owl Festival.
The main floor and exhibitions have ramps and an elevator. The historic building has some areas with narrow staircases: contact them in advance at +381 230 422 615 to confirm specific access arrangements.
Less than a 5-minute walk away you will find the National Museum of Kikinda (with mammoth fossils), the Terra Gallery in a brick factory, and the Kikinda Mammoth sculpture.
