A hidden architectural legacy in the heart of Vojvodina, where history intertwines with nature and a passion for horses.
The castle is generally open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (check for possible seasonal changes). It is located 15 km from Subotica, accessible by car via the E75 road or by local transport from Bačka Topola. Check updates on the Vojvodina tourism website.
At present, access to the exterior grounds is free, but visiting the interiors or special events may require a ticket, depending on the season. We recommend calling +381 24 753 123 to confirm current prices.
It is recommended to set aside 1.5 to 2 hours to explore the historic building, its gardens, and the adjoining chapel. If you plan to take photos or enjoy a picnic on the grounds, allow up to 3 hours.
Built in 1894 for the Hungarian noble Karácsonyi family, it is one of the few preserved Neo-Renaissance castles in Vojvodina. It stands out for its stately architecture and as a testament to the Austro-Hungarian era in Serbia.
Spring, especially May and June, and autumn, particularly September and October, offer pleasant temperatures and colorful scenery. Sundays are usually busier, while weekday mornings are quieter.
Only the outdoor areas and ground floor are partially accessible due to preserved historic steps. The first floor and towers do not have elevators. A companion is recommended for assistance during the visit.
About 30 minutes away is Subotica with its Art Nouveau city hall. Also noteworthy are the wineries along the Palić wine route and the Franciscan Monastery of Bačka Topola, 10 km away.
Wear comfortable shoes for walking on the cobbled paths, bring sun protection in summer, and carry cash, as there are no ATMs on site. Sunsets offer the best photos from the bridge in front of the lake.
