Donde las murallas medievales guardan más secretos que un espía serbio
Bač Fortress is generally open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To get there, take the E75 road south from Novi Sad (about 1 hour by car). Check updated hours at Serbia Tourism or call +381 21 881707.
Admission has a symbolic cost of about 300 RSD (about €2.5). Children under 12 enter free of charge. No advance booking is required. Check updated prices at Bač Institute.
A full visit takes 1.5 to 2 hours. It includes the Gothic keep, 14th-century walls, an underground chapel, and panoramic views of the Danube from the main tower.
It is the best-preserved fortress in Vojvodina (14th century). It was a Hungarian royal residence, an Ottoman frontier stronghold, and a Cultural Heritage site of Serbia. Its 20-meter tower is unique in the Balkans!
Spring (April to June) or autumn (September to October) are ideal because of the mild temperatures. Avoid July and August due to extreme heat, and visit early in the day to avoid groups.
Partial access: the courtyards and gardens are accessible, but the main tower and walls have stairs. There are adapted restrooms in the visitor center.
15 minutes away: Bač Franciscan Monastery (medieval frescoes) and Sombor (an Art Nouveau town). 40 minutes away: Fruška Gora National Park and Vojvodina Vineyards.
