Visiting Zavoj Lake is completely free, with no access fees or tickets required. You will only pay for fuel or transportation if you go by car, and possibly for parking if you use nearby private services.

It is recommended to spend between 2 and 4 hours enjoying the lake, including a walk along the shore, photos, and a picnic. If you go hiking in the surrounding area, it could extend to half a day.

Zavoj Lake is an artificial reservoir built in 1971 for the Pirot hydroelectric power plant, becoming a natural oasis surrounded by mountains. Culturally, it is a symbol of the beauty of eastern Serbia and a key ecotourism destination in the Pirot region.

The best season is summer (June–August) to enjoy swimming and water activities in good weather. Early morning or sunset avoids the heat and offers spectacular views with fewer people.

Nearby you will find the city of Pirot with its famous medieval fortress and the Pirot carpet museum. About an hour away by car is Nis, with its fortress and historic center; ideal for a combined day trip.
