Audio Guide of Zemun

Zemun is a district of Belgrade, so it does not have opening and closing hours like a museum. It is a public area that you can explore at your own pace, morning, afternoon, or night! To get there, you can take city buses from central Belgrade (lines 15, 17, 45, 73, 83, among others), which will drop you off at different key points in the district. It is also a very সুন্দর route for a taxi ride or a drive.

Walking through the streets of Zemun and enjoying its views is completely free! However, if you decide to go up Gardoš Tower (Millennium Tower), one of its most iconic landmarks, there is a small entrance fee to access the viewpoint.

To enjoy Zemun without rushing, I recommend setting aside at least half a day, around 3 to 4 hours. This will allow you to stroll through its historic streets, climb Gardoš Tower, have a drink at one of the cafés along the Danube, and soak up its bohemian atmosphere.

Zemun is a district with a fascinating history, as it was once an independent town within the Austro-Hungarian Empire before joining Belgrade and becoming part of Serbia. This dual heritage gives it an architecture and atmosphere very different from the rest of the capital, with Central European influences visible in every corner, especially in its historic center.

Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are ideal thanks to the pleasant weather and colors. If you ask me about the best time of day, I would say late afternoon is magical: you can watch the sunset from Gardoš Tower or from one of the restaurants on the banks of the Danube, an unforgettable experience!

The center of Zemun and the promenade along the Danube are fairly accessible, with relatively flat sidewalks. However, there are quite a few stairs to climb Gardoš Tower, and the streets leading up the hill where the tower stands can be steep and cobbled, which could make wheelchair access difficult.

Very close to Zemun, you can head over to Great War Island (Veliko Ratno Ostrvo) if you feel like a nature walk or enjoying Lido Beach in summer. In addition, New Belgrade, a modern and vibrant district, is just across the river and offers a contrasting view of the city.

Of course! I recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking on its cobbled streets. Do not leave without trying fresh fish at one of the restaurants along the Danube River, it is a local delight! And of course, be sure to go up to Gardoš Tower to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Belgrade.
