A natural oasis in Puerto Rico, known for its vibrant free-spirited atmosphere and refreshing waters.
Charco El Hippie is open every day from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. To get there, follow PR-191 toward the Río Blanco sector in Naguabo. It is recommended to use GPS with these coordinates. Always check the Naguabo Tourism page for occasional changes.
Access is currently completely free, as it is a public natural wonder. However, voluntary donations are accepted for area maintenance in the designated boxes in the parking area.
Most visitors enjoy spending 2 to 3 hours here, including time to walk the trails, swim in the pools, and take photos at the famous waterfalls. If you plan a picnic or light hiking, allow for half a day.
The name comes from the 1970s, when bohemian young people gathered here seeking a spiritual connection with nature. Today it is an ecotourism symbol of Naguabo. Its main 12-meter waterfall appears on the municipal coat of arms.
The dry season (December to April) offers clearer waters, but the waterfall flow is greater in summer. Mornings (8 to 11 am) are ideal for avoiding crowds and getting better light for photography.
The main path has an uneven surface and requires crossing rocks. There are no ramps or adapted restrooms. Only the first pool is partially accessible with assistance. Trekking poles are recommended if you have mobility limitations.
Just 15 minutes away is the Naguabo Boardwalk with its famous seafood kiosks. Toward El Yunque, do not miss Juan Diego Beach (25 min). Complete your route with Las Delicias Waterfall in Ceiba.
