The beach is open 24 hours, but visiting during the day is recommended for safety. To get there, take Road PR-113 in Quebradillas; parking is available near the entrance. More access information: Department of Natural Resources.
Yes, access is completely free since it is a public beach. However, you will need to cover parking costs (approximately $5) and any recreational equipment such as snorkel gear that you wish to rent.
Most visitors spend between 2 and 4 hours, ideal to combine with lunch in the area. If you plan to explore the historic tunnel and go snorkeling, set aside half a day.
Its main historical attraction is the Guajataca Tunnel, part of the old Ferroway (Puerto Rico Railroad, 1911-1957). The 315-meter structure cuts through the cliff with spectacular views. Details: History of the PR railroad.
The dry season (December to April) with calm surf. Early morning hours (7-10 am) and late afternoon (4-6 pm) are ideal: fewer crowds, pleasant temperatures, and breathtaking sunsets over the cliff.
Only partially: there is a main access ramp, but some areas (the trail to the tunnel and rocky zones) are not adapted. Assistance is recommended for wheelchair users. The parking lot does have reserved spaces.
We recommend: 1) Guajataca Tunnel (500 m from the beach), 2) Punta Borinquen Lighthouse (18 min by car), 3) Quebradillas Waterfalls. More options: Puerto Rico Tourism Northwest Region.
Wear closed shoes for the rocky trail, bring sunscreen and plenty of water. Watch out for currents! Don't miss the views from the historic tunnel lookout. Mobile coverage is best with Claro or T-Mobile in the area.
