A natural paradise in Puerto Rico, famous for its waterfalls and crystal-clear pools, a haven of biodiversity and serenity.
Gozalandia is open to the public during the day, although there are no strict opening and closing hours since it is a natural area. It is best visited in daylight. To get there, we recommend using GPS to guide you to Road 446 in the Bartolo neighborhood of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Keep in mind that the road can be a bit winding.
Access to Gozalandia’s waterfalls is free. However, there is private parking in the area, managed by locals, which generally charges a modest fee per vehicle (around US$5–$10). This payment helps with maintenance of the area and facilitates access.
To fully enjoy Gozalandia, including time for swimming, taking photos, and relaxing at the different waterfalls, we suggest setting aside between 2 and 4 hours. If you only want to see the main waterfalls and not swim, one hour could be enough, but you would miss a big part of the experience.
Gozalandia is known mainly for its natural beauty rather than for a specific or deeply ancestral cultural history. Its name, 'Gozalandia,' comes precisely from the idea of enjoying nature. It is a popular place among Puerto Ricans and tourists for recreation and for connecting with the island’s natural surroundings.
The best time to visit Gozalandia is during Puerto Rico’s dry season, between December and May, when there is less rain and the trails are easier to walk. As for the best time of day, we recommend going early in the morning (before 10 a.m.) to avoid crowds and enjoy the tranquility of the place, as well as to find better parking.
Unfortunately, Gozalandia is not accessible for people with reduced mobility or wheelchairs. The path to the waterfalls involves descending rustic trails with natural steps and uneven terrain that can be challenging, even for people without limitations. A certain level of agility is required to enjoy the place.
San Sebastián, the municipality where Gozalandia is located, has other nearby attractions. You can explore the town center with its colonial architecture, visit the Walkway of the Traditional Little Houses or the Museum of the History of San Sebastián. If you enjoy adventure, there are several coffee farms in the mountain region that offer tours. For more information, you can visit Discover Puerto Rico.
Absolutely! We suggest bringing a swimsuit, towel, biodegradable sunscreen, comfortable water sandals or river shoes, and insect repellent. It is also a good idea to bring water and some snacks, since there are not many services directly at the waterfalls. Don’t forget a waterproof camera to capture the beauty of the place and, please, help keep it clean by taking all your trash with you.
